Illinois Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence (ICPGV),
a project of Legal Community Against
Violence (LCAV),
is a research-based public education campaign to promote meaningful gun
policy reform in Illinois. Working with a
statewide advisory group
representing law enforcement, the medical and public health communities,
faith-based organizations, local and state policymakers, victims and
advocacy groups, ICPGV will inform the public and the media on the facts
about gun violence and prevention policies.

The goal of ICPGV is to educate the public and policymakers
about the importance of meaningful gun violence prevention policies. ICPGV
will educate the public about gun violence prevention policy options and
connect with supporters through the following methods:
Statewide Poll
On March 21, 2007, ICPGV released the results
of a statewide survey conducted by two polling firms,
Overbrook
Research ,
an Illinois survey research firm, and Lake Research
Partners,
a national survey research firm, in order to gauge public opinion on gun
violence issues and various gun policy options.

Meetings, Events and Forums
A series of informational sessions will discuss
policy options, present polling results, and provide research.
Media releases and editorials
ICPGV will issue press releases and hold press
events to inform the public about the campaign, polling results and
updates on the status of the policy options. Members of the advisory
group
will also send opinion editorials, letters to the editor and schedule
editorial board meetings to present perspectives on policies to prevent
gun violence.

to preventing gun violence. Founded by lawyers, LCAV is the country’s
only organization devoted exclusively to providing legal assistance in
support of gun violence prevention.
